While EA has tested the waters of browser-based gaming with the release of Tiger Woods Online earlier this year, it seems as though the company will be diving even deeper into the world of non-download, non-disc PC and Mac video games, as the company has started a new Flash gaming label called EA2D. The first title, which was revealed on Bioware’s blog last week and picked up by Gamasutra earlier today, will be Dragon Age: Journeys, a 2D tactical RPG spin-off of the upcoming 3D console/PC RPG Dragon Age.
In the Bioware blog post Ethan Levy, a producer at EA2D, stated that the team will be creating Flash games for established EA properties, as well as creating new IPs. Levy will be leading a team of top Flash-developer talent, including Daniel Stradwick, the creator of the popular Flash game Monster’s Den, Andrew Sega, who helped create the online version of the Magic the Gathering card game.
We’ve sent a few questions to EA earlier today about this new label, but as yet, we have not received a reply. If we do hear from them, you can be sure we’ll pass the information along to you.
