War of Titans–Gladiators 2 Major Updates

Hail Gladiators,

For several months now, we’ve been working hard on an update for you. Out of a few small ideas, more and bigger ideas were born, so that we can now introduce a major update for Gladius2.

In spite of the “extended” development time, we’ve tried to keep you all up to date, and we even started a developer blog. That way you could follow us step by step and see the current status of the developments and the changes we implemented. With such a major update, it isn’t always possible to go into detail on everything, because many things are only visible once the final version is ready and the individual pieces come together. We’d really like to thank all of you for your patience and your trust!

As we have already indicated, this update comes with a name change. This is largely due to legal constrictions; unfortunately, we don’t have any choice in the matter. We are pleased to announce that in the future, Gladius2 will be known as….

“War of Titans-Classic”.

In addition to the major Gladius2 update, we are excited about the launch of a completely new version of your gladiator saga, a Gladius2 sequel. We proudly present:

“War of Titans“

This title fits perfectly with the new content which we’ve created for you. The central theme remains the same, though. Your mission: Become a formidable gladiator and fight for your survival!

During the last several weeks, there have been a lot of questions from you which we were unable to answer or only partially answer due to the stage of development of the game. We’d like to make up for this now, and answer the most important questions you asked!

When will the new version go online?
The official start date for “War of Titans” is November 3, 2009. We’ll take Gladius2 offline for a short time, so that we can upload all the important changes. As soon as that’s done, Gladius2 will once again be available for you to play under the new name “War of Titans-Classic”. In addition, the brand-new game sequel “War of Titans” will go online, including all the exciting extras you’ve been reading about!

What’s going to happen to your accounts?
That’s not as easy a question to answer as some of you might think. We pondered right up through the end of the development phase as to how we could integrate your accounts fairly into the new game. The biggest challenge was to transfer the Gladius2 model into the War of Titans model; in other words, we wanted to make the accounts comparable.

To show you why this is somewhat difficult, here are the most important changes to the game:

- Gladius2: the Depot revisited … first views of the new Depot!

* Completely new design
* Gladiator school included (see stature points)
* Gladiator weight has an influence on the course of the game
* Body level 4 introduced
* 2 new alloys introduced
* New items introduced

-A new homepage and world map at Gladius2

* Completely reworked “league system” (New: province system)
* Assignment of gladiator level to provinces – new
* New areas can be discovered on the world map
* Max. gladiator level increased
* Gladiator level 250 equal to level 50 in WoT!
* Event province easy to activate!

The Arena & the HUD (head up display)

* Completely reworked HUD
* Graphics in the arena also completely reworked
* New effects added to the arena
* More information in the arena
* Completely new, reworked NPC logic to add more spice to the quests!
* The kill bonus has been removed due to balancing considerations

-Arenas / Province system

* Stature points for gladiators introduced
* Completely new quest system / mission system
* Division into PvE and PvP fights
* New area: Clan quests

-Gladiator update.

* All gladiator graphics were upgraded!
* New: Achilla (female) added as gladiator!
* Every gladiator has completely new special skills!

-Victory points, experience points, fame points and ranking

* Victory points changed to experience points
* Experience points cannot be lost!
* New: Fame points and ranking

-The weapon, battle, armor and defense system

* Completely new weapons arsenal
* Silver, gold and titanium weapons
* More than 100 weapons playable
* Weapons and armor no longer subject to leveling
* New battle system with directional shields
* Skill point system for weapon categories

As you might have noticed, a lot has changed, and we didn’t shy away from making an extra effort so that your game will be even more interesting and exciting to play!

If you go through the individual points, you’ll understand why the question “What’s going to happen witgh my account?” isn’t that easy to answer. We calcualted back and forth over a period of several weeks: How can we take over existing items, weapons, weapon level, gladiator level, etc. so that it’s fair for everyone? In addition, we asked ourselves the question: “Do all the current Gladius2 players even want to play “War of Titans”, a game which will be significantly more complex?”

At the end of the day, we had to admit that there isn’t any one solution for this problem which will satisfy everyone involved. Converting and crediting accounts for existing game levels and items is simply not completely possible, but using the variation “You now have to play another version according to these new conditions.” did not seem to be the right way, either.

For this reason, starting on November 3, 2009, we will make both versions available to you!
Our decision is based on feedback from some players in the community who (understandably) didn’t want to get shoved into something new and unknown. You can all continue to play Gladius2 under the new name of “War of Titans-Classic”! There will continue to be …

-Updates
-Jackpot battles

… as usual! So you don’t need to worry about your hard-earned and collected items, silver, gold, etc. We’re offering you the game as you know it, with all the trimmings. Only the name has been changed. And best of all, as a fantastic sequel to it, you’ll also have the chance to play the brand new “War of Titans”.

-Of course, we’d be tickled pink to have some of you Gladius2 veterans join us in the new version. Whoever decides to take the plunge will be rewarded with an extra-special Gladius2 veterans’ pack to celebrate the start of “War of Titans”. It’s going to be a big surprise!

To play “War of Titans”, you just need to log in on the game’s homepage with your existing account information and then choose the new “War of Titans” server. The veterans’ pack will automatically be credited to your account after the selection!

We’re positive that this solution is the fairest one for everyone.

War of Titans will be launched at the beginning of November in a few languages. The other languages will follow shortly.
